RF-THERMAPAINT is water based acrylic floor insulation paint, specifically formulated for use with underfloor heating systems, incorporating 3M hollow glass bubble technology. Reduces heat loss through the floor by arouund 50% (two coats) and up to 65% (three coats). The bubbles contain a vacuum and heat or cold cannot pass through a vacuum.
Supplied in 2.5 litre tins.
RF-THERMAPAINT is sold individually in 2.5 litre tins, or as part of an undertile heating mat kit. When it is supplied as part of an undertile heating mat kit It replaces the standard primer in the kit, and in spite of the extra cost there is a real cost benefit when purchasing RF-THERMAPAINT in this way. The number of tins required can be found below and this is based on two coats. Please read our note below on coverage when comparing RF-THERMAPAINT with competitive floor insulating paints.

RF-THERMAPAINT is a dual purpose paint used to both insulate and prime your floor base prior to laying underfloor heating. The floor surface will then be insulated and ready primed for the application of underfloor heating, levelling compounds, tile adhesive and tiles.
RF-THERMAPAINT is the perfect alternative to tile backer boards, particularly when you have floor height restrictions and want to keep within a budget.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not confuse RF-THERMAPAINT with other floor insulating paints.

Size & Coverage:
2.5 litres, which covers 12 square metres with 1 coat (a minimum of 2 coats are recommended)
The recommended coverage will ensure a thickness of coating that insulates the floor with maximum efficiency, even though the thickness is only microns.
As a guide, the paint industry estimates 1 litre of standard emulsion paint will cover an area of 12 square metres with a single coat however, emulsion is not an insulating paint and therefore the thickness of coverage is not as important. Most gloss paints will cover slightly less – 1 litre will cover approximately 11 square metres
It is also important to note that most floor painting surfaces are porous, especially concrete floors.
